Football casual fashion
Since the birth of the teddy boys in the mid-1950s, British football fans have had a strong fashion-driven subculture. The mods of the early 1960s, the Skinheads of the late 1960s (and beyond), and the mod revivalists of the late 1970s maintained this trend.
By 1988, the Casuals' prime had passed them by. The fall, on the other hand, was caused by changes in the style and content of youth culture, which saw the football Casuals increasingly drawn into the rave and dance music scenes that exploded in popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
